Lenovo Phab 2 Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 – Big display or Better Performance?
Lenovo sells its devices both online and offline and
therefore has a good name in the Indian mobile market. Xiaomi, on the other
hand, sells only online and therefore people don’t recognize the brand that
much. But both the companies offer decent phones at budget-friendly prices. In
this post, we will compare Lenovo Phab 2 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
Design and Display:
Lenovo Phab 2 is
a phablet which lies between the tablet and the mobile phone. Lenovo Phab 2 has
the enormous screen size of 6.4 inches which is 16.26 cm. It has the dimensions
of 175 (H) x 89.5 (W) x 9.6 (T) mm. It is bulky because of the huge size and
weighs 225. It has a metallic body and comes in two gorgeous colors of
Champagne gold and gunmetal grey.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is a successor to the popular device
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. It has smaller screen as compared to Lenovo Phab 2. It has
5.5-inch screen with the dimensions of 151 (H) x 76 (W) x 8.4 (T) mm. It is
thinner and lighter than Lenovo Phab 2 and weighs 165 grams.
Display wise, Lenovo Phab 2 features a High Definition (HD)
display of 6.4 inches. It has the resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and very less
pixel density of 229 PPI. We are not satisfied with the display but considering
the price, we will give it a benefit of doubt. It comes with an IPS LCD display
type and has screen to body ratio of 71.93 %.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has the similar screen of 5.5 inches
like that of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. It is a Full High Definition display unlike
Phab 2 which lacks Full High Definition display. It has the resolution of 1080
x 1920 pixels and has great pixel density of 401 PPI. It also uses IPS LCD
display type and has the screen to body ratio of 72.5 %.
Both the devices lack the physical home, there are three
capacitive keys below the display. In Lenovo Phab 2, the back key is on the
left side whereas in Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, it is on the right side. Both the
devices lack front branding. Both the devices feature a 5 MP front camera above
the display with no front flash. The Volume keys and power button lie on the
right side of the phone for both the devices. There is a hybrid SIM tray on the
left side of the device for both the devices. Both the devices lack USB Type C port but
support micro USB port and 3.5mm jack is also present in the device. On the
back side, lies the non-removable back cover for both the devices. There is
also a 13 MP primary camera at the back of both the devices. Xiaomi Redmi Note
4 supports fingerprint sensor which is located at the back of the device. This
feature is missing in Lenovo Phab 2.
Performance:
Performance wise, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 wins the race. Xiaomi
Redmi Note 4 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 chipset whereas Lenovo Phab 2
uses MediaTek MT8735. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 uses Octa core, 2 GHz processor
whereas Phab 2 uses Quad core 1.3 GHz processor. Although, they both run on 3 GB
RAM, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 performs better than Lenovo Phab 2. Even for the
graphics Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 uses faster Adreno 506 processor as compared to
slower and older Mali-T720 MP2 used in Lenovo Phab 2.
Software:
None of the devices run on Android Nougat which is the
latest Android version. They both run on Android Marshmallow. Lenovo Phab 2 has
its own VIBE UI on top whereas Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has its own custom MIUI 8 on
top.
Camera and Storage:
Both Lenovo Phab 2 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 feature a 13MP
rear camera and come with phase detection autofocus. Lenovo Phab 2 has CMOS
image sensor and an LED flash whereas Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has Exmor-RS CMOS
Sensor and dual color LED flash. There is no optical Image Stabilization in
either of the device. Both have the image resolution of 4128 x 3096 Pixels and
allow video recording at 1920x1080 @ 30 fps. They also have similar front
camera of 5 MP with no LED flash.
Both Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo Phab 2 have similar
internal memory of 32 GB which is expandable up to 128 GB via hybrid card slot.
Battery and
Connectivity:
Both the devices have almost similar battery configuration.
Lenovo Phab 2 has 4050mAH battery whereas Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has 4100 mAh
battery which is non-removable in both the devices. They also lack fast
charging.
Both the devices are dual SIM devices which support 4G in
both the slots. They also are VOLTE enabled and use hybrid SIM slot.
The Verdict:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is a clear winner because of the great
display and fast best processor, but if you want a device with large screen,
then Lenovo Phab 2 is a good choice.

is India is expected to be Rs11,999 in India whereas Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is
expected to be Rs10,999.
